There's a new generation of workers that are becoming increasingly important in the war for talent. As this generation climbs up the career ladder will things change? Do they buy into values & culture? What motivates them to join a new employers? Do organisations need to engage with them differently. We all have our perceptions of how they behave but are we right?
Millennials aren't brats. If millennials respect some brands more than others, it’s not because they’re self-entitled brats. It’s because they have different values than generations past, some of which are arguably more utilitarian. Traditional office values are changing. Today’s workplace shouldn’t be an exact copy of workplaces from the 1980s or 1990s. This is a new era, and we need to be prepared for changes. Corporate brands aren't as important as people. Not respecting a brand or company is not the same as disrespecting a person. Corporations are entities, not human beings. Ethical, responsible brands win out. In today’s world, the socially conscious, ethically responsible brands are the ones winning the best talent and the most sales. I anticipate that trend will continue.
