I was doing some research for a client the other day to see what competition was up to. And I was really surprised to see how many organisations are still talking about ‘the post holder’, ‘prospective candidate’ or ‘applicant’ when in most instances a simple ‘you’ would have been absolutely fine.
We deal with people in our business. Not once have I come across an organisation that didn’t want to recruitment someone with ‘excellent personal skills’ (that’s another conversation). I have never met a person who'd rather be a ‘post holder’ than a real human being. Or an ‘applicant’ for that matter. Even if they are applying for a job. So in an age where most organisations recognise the importance of customer and candidate experience, maybe it’s time to check out those old job descriptions and update your website in recognition of the fact that you are hoping to attract real people?
