Increasingly I'm spending less time at "my" desk. I split my time between our offices in Bristol and London as well as working from home, working on trains, coffee shops, my car...even though I'm an office worker, I'm really not. Technology is powering this location adaptability (noise cancelling headphones are a gift). And research points to this itinerant working style becoming a trend, with our millennial employees seeking out a flexibility of working style. The question is, will they miss out on personal contact, or does technology render that a non-question?
Offices will not disappear entirely, but they will be reserved mainly for people who regularly have confidential conversations, like lawyers and top executives.
