People used to think of Crawley as a feeder for Gatwick or dormitory town for London. No longer it appears. The latest Adzuna reports highlights the growing gulf between some UK towns/cities, based on job creation & vacancies per resident. Highest vacancies per population include Oxford, Cambridge, Manchester, Swindon - and now Crawley. At the other end of the spectrum are Belfast and Sunderland with far more job seekers than work. Worth bearing in mind when you're deciding where to locate your next contact centre or IT Department !!
Crawley joins list of best places to find a job While Cambridge remains the best place to find a job with just 0.04 jobseekers per vacancy, Crawley makes the top 10 list for the first time as the 10th best city to find a job with 0.18 jobseekers for every open role. Warrington, Guildford, Southampton and Winchester made up positions 2-5, with Reading, Swindon, Oxford and Manchester filling up the rest of the top 10. At the other end of the scale Sunderland and Belfast were the toughest places for a jobseeker to find work, with 2.51 and 2.07 people looking for a job for every advertised vacancy.
