Ephemeral content, in other words posts that only last for a short time, have taken a huge step into every social media marketing must-haves, which makes ephemeral content predicted as the new ‘king’ of social media marketing in 2018. Another big part of the rise of ephemeral content is that it tugs on people’s FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) – inciting audiences to take action. Temporary content develops a sense of excitement and trust for brands. Ephemeral content can also be seen as more authentic than its curated counterparts. Although marketers might have second thoughts on investing resources on content that lasts for only 24 hours, this type of content is predicted to provide the best engagement over the coming year, especially for Millennials and Generation Z.
