How many of us use an CRM or ATS which really does embraces text/online chat capabilities to engage with talent?
Some of the best recruiters will understand their target audience and use an engagement strategy as appropriate; but does our recruiting technology encourage us to do this when appropriate?
After reading this article I started exploring and noticed iCIMS have acquired TextRecruit; a leading text message/online chat provider.
Interestingly the founder of TextRecruit reported to have had the idea for the business when getting a response rate of 50-60% from passive talent just from using a text message introductions; that's against LinkedIn's inmail response rates of just 30%.
Texting candidates will become mainstream. We know most people hate talking on the phone, even though they don't put their phone down for more than 12 seconds a day. The problem is most of our applicant tracking systems (ATSs) don't do texting well.
