With around 9,000 organisations in the UK due to publish their gender pay gap in April; the coverage the issue has received is both welcomed and fascinating. Panorama last night explored some really complex debates and perspectives surrounding what constitutes jobs of equal value from supermarket staff to council workers.
My brother-in-law (employed by a big five accounting firm) is currently enjoying the benefits of shared parental leave for their third child; whilst his wife continues to build momentum in her career by returning to the workplace.
It still seems this is quite a rare occurrence and I was pleased to see this article on the BBC today; good on the Government in encouraging more parents to take up shared parental leave.
From a selfish perspective with so many of our clients in central government and so many of candidates being driven by compensation; we have another real tangible benefit to attract the best talent into the sector.... for now at least!
