When will it launch in the UK? Is a question that has been coming up ever since it announced the US launch a year ago this month.
And recently Google has announced they’re launching in India and Canada. There are a number of people (myself included) that are really looking forward to the launch of Google for Jobs in the UK, but there is one fairly large issue, which could dampen the excitement…
So many careers sites simply aren’t prepared for the launch with various compatibility issues between the way that the ATS works with the careers site. The fact you can search and find roles on your site sadly isn’t good enough, Google needs to be able to find it and it needs to be coded correctly for google to understand what it finds, if the code, layout and relevant information aren’t in place it bring things to a grinding halt.
If you’d like to test your careers site for compatibility here’s a handy link: https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool Simply paste a job advert from your careers site and take a look at the results.
Of course most job boards have put the work in, and are fully compatible – their businesses rely it though, so of course they have. The interesting question is why Indeed seem to be bucking the trend in both Canada and the US, and how long will it take for company career sites to catch up?
Every day, millions of Canadians turn to Google to kick-off their job search. Now, this journey is simpler with the new job search feature on Google in Canada.
