With much noise and criticism around it the Apprenticeship Levy continues to be the focus of much debate about how it is best used.
The Apprenticeship Levy has been met with criticism for both its conception and usage. With some firms slamming it as yet another business tax; other firms have received scrutiny for using it to rebrand low-skilled work as apprentices. It’s fair to say that the levy hasn’t had the best start. But, that doesn’t mean apprenticeships should be tarred with the same brush, instead, more should be done to educate businesses on the opportunity this type of work presents. In fact, whilst the negative headlines have dominated, many businesses have utilised the levy to increase both the number and calibre of apprenticeship opportunities.
