It seems we need to think seriously about practical ways to broaden children's career aspirations while they're in primary school.  This is for two reasons:  firstly to get over the hurdle that children set their aspirations as early as seven years old (which is around the age where girls in particular tend to set limitations around their potential); and secondly because new research suggests that where the majority of teenagers currently set their sights, bears little relation to the realities of the job market they're going to join...
